MIS, FP&A & CFO Support

Management needs numbers that arrive on time, can be relied on, and speak to the decisions ahead. We build reporting, planning and review around those decisions, either as a one-time project or as ongoing monthly support.

Who this is for

Growing businesses with an accounts team but no finance head; promoters who get figures late or not at all; companies preparing for a bank facility, an investor discussion or the next stage of growth.

How we work

01

Understand

We begin with the business, its records and the requirement behind the engagement.

02

Examine

We work from your own records, documents and processes rather than assumptions.

03

Review

Findings and outputs are reviewed by the proprietor before anything is issued.

04

Report

Conclusions in plain language, with the decisions or filings they support.

Scope, deliverables and timelines are confirmed in a written engagement letter before work begins.

Common questions

What does a monthly MIS pack usually contain?

Typically sales and margin by product or segment, cash position and forecast, receivables and payables ageing, cost trends, budget versus actual, and a short note on what needs attention. The pack is built around the decisions you actually make, not a fixed template.

Can we start with one project instead of a retainer?

Yes. Many engagements begin as a one-time review, such as setting up the MIS format or a cash-flow forecast, and move to monthly support only if that proves useful.

Do you prepare projections for a bank loan application?

Yes. Projected financials, working-capital assessment workings and the supporting statements lenders ask for. Certificates the law reserves for another professional are coordinated with them.

Do we need to change our accounting software?

No. Reporting is built from whatever you already use, whether Tally, Zoho, Busy or Excel. If the system is genuinely limiting the reporting, we will say so rather than work around it indefinitely.

How soon can the first report be produced?

Usually within two to four weeks of getting access to the data, depending on how current the books are. If there is a backlog, that is cleared first, because reporting on incomplete books misleads more than it helps.

What is a Virtual CFO, in practice?

Not a title so much as an arrangement: someone senior reviewing the numbers each month, flagging what needs attention, and being available for decisions on pricing, capex, borrowing or expansion, without the business carrying a full-time salary. Day-to-day accounting continues with your own team.

Will you work with our existing accountant?

Yes. In most engagements your accountant continues with day-to-day entries while we handle reporting, review and analysis.

What is the difference between MIS and our financial statements?

Financial statements report the year for outside readers. MIS is internal and monthly, built around decisions: which products earn margin, where cash will be tight, which costs are drifting.

We are a small business. Is this relevant to us?

Yes. A small business often needs a simple monthly view more than a large one does, because there is no finance team to spot problems early.

Projections and forecasts rest on assumptions about future conditions, which are documented alongside the numbers. They are not a prediction of results.
